Damascus had a higher-profile 3-year-old season, winning both the Preakness and the Belmont in 1967. Dr. Fager (shown here) had a dominant year at 4 in 1968. Memorably, the 1967 Woodward Stakes featured "The Doctor," Damascus, and Buckpasser, a 4-year old at the time. With three greats going against each other, Damascus prevailed in a dominating 10-length victory.
