2024 MEET STATS: 300 - 975 / $1,621.70 (-$328.30) BEST BETS: 43 - 84 / $152.60 (-$15.40) BEST BET: SADDLE UP (7th) SPOT PLAY: YS DO IT RIGHT (6th) Race 1: NW21301 in last 5 starts Pace (2) KINGSVILLE doesn't always win but he's a model of consistency and is always dangerous when drawn inside. He figures to be sitting second or third in here and can prove freshest late. (4) ADAM TWELVE takes a needed drop in class and switches to Bartlett. Engblom trainee is obviously dangerous. (1) SPORTY M THREE is the other main player in here, though probably best a level or two down. He's a must-use in all exotics. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) ENDOFSTORY faced more seasoned foes last out in his Yonkers return and missed a head from the seven hole. Three-year-old lacks the experience of others with just 17 career starts but the Dilloian, Jr. trainee is certainly fast enough. (4) POUND FOR POUND hasn't been at his best lately but he's capable of better, as his 1:49 4/5 mark from earlier this season will attest to. I can see Holland leaving with #3 and setting up a good stalking trip. (7) BIG GULP is another with speed coming from live connections and he does face a bit softer here. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (1) MY ULTIMATE STAR A has been a bit overmatched in his last few with the $40K claimers but he drops back to the level of his last win and this barn has had a few winners recently. (3) MUSCLE BART A has not been close in two U.S. starts but he finds a much better spot tonight to be involved; my only concern is that the import will be an underlay. (4) MAXIMUS RED A has been just okay since being claimed for $40K a couple of months ago. Bongiorno trainee did beat a softer amateur field last out and maybe that serves as a confidence booster. Race 4: $40,000 Claiming Pace (4) MIND HUNTER stepped up to this level last week and held gamely for the win over a sharp rival; he may be forced to off-the-pace tactics as he tries to repeat but should offer an honest price. (1) TWO FACED finally steps back up in class after being claimed in four of his last five but he lands the rail and is a strong candidate to take these down the road. (6) SAN DOMINO A is a classy old guy who has been good in two starts after hiking to this level off the DiDomenico claim but he draws his worst post in quite some time and that may relegate him to a lesser share. Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) OPTICAL ILLUSION N does step up in class off a win but he should be more than competitive here considering he was claimed for $50K by these connections; call from the rail. (4) TICKERTAPE HANOVER was super upon arrival from Ohio winning in 1:51 3/5 despite being reported with broken equipment; also up a notch in class. (6) BLUE LOU returns from another stint in Kentucky and he was a winner facing better when we last saw the Engblom trainee; back with Bartlett. Race 6: $30,000 Claiming Pace (1) YS DO IT RIGHT perked up in his last two when he dropped in class and Marohn picked up the drive. Maybe that can carry into tonight as he steps back up to the $30K level and lands the rail. (2) TAKE A CLOSER LOOK also woke up last week and seeks to repeat from a similar spot. (4) KOOTENAY SANTANNA changes hands again via claim despite consecutive sixth-place finishes. Bartlett drives for new connections, maybe shows improvement. Race 7: $40,000 Claiming Pace (1) SADDLE UP has gotten progressively better in his four starts since moving to the Engblom barn. The next logical step is the winner's circle, albeit not at much of a price. (7) BECHERS BROOK A missed a nose out of the eight hole last week in his first start for this barn and he gets another ride with the same connections after being claimed the prior 100 starts it seems; Anthony Nap picks up the catch drive and figures to he hustled off the gate. (4) IM A POWERPLAY A dropped, popped, was claimed last out; back up in class first out for Bongiorno. Race 8: Invitational Pace (6) AMERICAN DEALER N was a fast-closing second in his return to the top level and he's been by far the most consistent of these; Toscano trainee gets the call despite starting from the outside. (1) SPIRIT OF STLOUIS N was in a tough spot to make his North American debut but he raced willingly; second start out now from the rail the import deserves a long look. (5) HELLABALOU hasn't won an Open/Invite here in a while but the 2x Borgata champ is always capable. Race 9: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) CADILLAC BAYAMA finished with pace after trailing the mile last week and now moves all the way from the seven hole to the rail for Lachance. He figures to get a nice stalking trip. I wasn't exactly running to bet (2) NANDOLO N last out at a short price but he got the job done at 35 cents on the dollar. Always capable of winning again but I'm passing as the favorite. (4) JOEMIKIYOURSOFINE has been knocking at the door after finishing close in all recent races. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW7970 in last 5 starts Pace (8) SOUTHWIND PETYR has been dull recently but he lands a new driver and drops in class again; do we see a "Bartlett blast" at a price? (2) FRANKIE FRANKIE raced well last week upon arrival, could have more to offer. (5) LUCKBEWITHALEX is only two races removed from a 1:50 win at Pocono with A Nap driving and he's back in the bike tonight; big threat. Race 11: $50,000 Claiming Pace (5) GENTLE GIANT two-moved from the eight hole for a giant victory first off the Daguet reclaim, and that barn has been hot lately. Top call in finale. (1) SHAKESPEARE gets post relief and should be live from the rail. (2) JUST ENUFF STUFF also moves back inside and prior to his last start he was second in the prior three.
