Practical Move, the leading 3-year-old in California, and Reincarnate, third in two graded stakes in Arkansas this year, worked quickly Friday at Santa Anita for trainer Tim Yakteen in advance of scheduled starts in the Kentucky Derby on May 6 at Churchill Downs. Practical Move, winner of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby on April 8, worked five furlongs in 59.60 seconds under exercise rider Baltazar Contreras, while Reincarnate worked a half-mile in 46.40 under jockey Drayden Van Dyke. Reincarnate’s work was the fastest of the morning at the distance. You’re not looking for any changes. You’re getting the green light on all systems. “Your horse is already fit and you’re maintaining.” Reincarnate “drug Drayden around there,” Yakteen said. “He looked very nice today. Both horses, touch wood, had really nice works.” Reincarate was beaten three lengths by Angel of Empire in the Arkansas Derby. Yakteen has three other 3-year-olds bound for stakes on May 6 at Churchill Downs – Johannes, Kangaroo Court, and Fort Bragg. Johannes, winner of the Pasadena Stakes on April 2 at Santa Anita, worked five furlongs in 1:02.60 for the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes. Kangaroo Court, winner of the Echo Eddie Stakes for California-breds on April 8 at Santa Anita, and Fort Bragg, fifth in the Grade 1 Florida Derby on April 1, are scheduled to start in the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile.
