Warrawee Ubeaut and driver Yannick Gingras went down the road to easily capture the C$290,000 Roses Are Red Stakes final for pacing mares at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night, stopping the clock in 1:49 3/5 for the mile. Trillions Hanover and driver Sylvain Filion were motivated early and jetted to the front into the first turn, but Gingras urged Warrawee Ubeaut to the top at the 26 3/5 opening fraction and then cut the pace with a half in 54 3/5 and a three-quarters in 1:22 2/5. There were no serious challengers, and Warrawee Ubeaut, a daughter of Sweet Lou, blasted home in 27 1/5 to win decisively, with Trillions Hanover second and So Much More surviving a long overland journey to finish third. For Warrawee Ubeaut, trained by Ron Burke, this was just her second win of the season in six starts after a sophomore season in 2019 that saw her earn seven figures. Sent off as the 9-5 choice, Warrawee Ubeaut paid $5.90 for the victory. "She was a little bit anxious before the race," said Gingras. "I wasn't going to fight her, but she relaxed going to the half and finished it off." Burke Racing Stable, Phil Collura, J & T Silva-Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi share ownership of Warrawee Ubeaut, who won for the 21st time in her career.
