Top Pick Stats: 42 - 128 / $215.70 (-$40.30) Best Bets: 6 - 12 / $17.90 (-$6.10) Spot Plays: 1 - 12 / $3.20 (-$20.80) Best Bet: TWIN B POWERBALL (7TH) Spot Play: JILLIBY DYNAMITE A (8TH) Early Pick 5: 2,6/2,7/2,6,7/1,2,5/2,4 = $14.40 Late Pick 5: 4,7,8/2/4,7/4,5,8/1,5,10 = $10.80 Early Pick 4: 1,2,5/2,4/4,7,8/2 = $3.60 Late Pick 4: 4,5,8/1,5,10/6/2,4,10 = $5.40 Race 1: F&M NW $14,000 L5 or $33,600 L10 AE: NW $155,000 LT **Gtd. $100,000 Pick 5** (6) SETTN A PRECEDENT missed a month, but it didn’t matter as she produced a big first up effort to win that featured a big kicker paced over the track rated off one second. It’s telling that Macdonald sticks with her over the class dropping #8 horse; call to repeat. (2) WILDCAT STAR is the other mare in here that comes off a first-over win and that came vs. similar to the ones she meets tonight; using. (8) PARISIAN BLUE CHIP will likely sit back and rally here and she can land a share on the class drop. (4) SAULSBROOK OLYMPIA is another that will likely rally past some rivals and land in the bottom of the exotics. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: PREFERRED (2) TAURASI has been terrific winning this class three straight times. I guess it’s possible that missing three weeks might cause a chink in his armor, but the leading trainer will likely overcome that absence. (7) SAULSBROOK VICTOR was used very hard two starts back then given a much easier trip last week to close late for a slice. He can be an Exacta factor here if he gets put into the race earlier this time. (5) CODENAME CIGAR BOX scored two consecutive upset wins and he is razor-sharp, but he will likely find the choice too tough if that rival brings anything close to his A game tonight. (6) POINTS NORTH has been racing tough for several weeks. He can be part of the exotics here. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: F&M NW $8,300 L5 or $85,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $50,000 (7) DELITFULCATHERIN N closed nicely late in the mile after missing three weeks and she gets top billing here returning to a 7-day rotation. (6) IN THE MOOD was less than two lengths behind the choice and Macdonald sticks. She could be a value play for the early Pick 5 here. (2) WESTERN WISH was no match for a very good Snow Shark last week, but she stayed for 2nd, and she can land another share here. (5) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL is in solid form currently and she can rally for a share here. Race 4: NW $17,250 LT - Pick 4 (2) LANESIDE SPORTSTAR cost himself a chance at a top two placing when he jumped it off at the 3/4 pole last week. Henry takes over the lines tonight and maybe he can finesse him around that last turn; slight nod. (5) ODDS ON KICKOFF is in easier here dropping out of NW2. He has a good chance to take his first Mohawk Park win in this spot; using. (1) UNISON was engaged in battle with the choice when that one broke and he was then able to open up a big lead. He was caught late by a winner that was repeating and he is an obvious threat here. (6) ID IMAGINE is Roy’s pick over the choice. I see him taking a smaller share here. Race 5: NW $14,000 L5 (2) WHICHWAYTOTHEBEACH was a front end winner last time he raced this low on 2/2/23 then he missed checks in his next four starts. He is likely to get an aggressive Macdonald steer tonight and he should be the one to catch. (4) LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE is another dropper in here and he hasn’t raced this low since last summer. I can see him fighting it out for the win with the top pick. (3) POWERTRAIN jogged in his qualifier but that was now more than three weeks ago. I’ll use him underneath in this return race. (1) ROCKME ROLLME has taken shares in all three of his 2024 starts and he should be part of the exotics again. Race 6: 5YO and younger NW2 or $34,500 LT - Pick 5 (7) BRADY HANOVER comes in off two easy wins, and he looks good to triple up in this spot; top call. (4) HESTONATOR made a couple of moves to beat $20K claimers in a good effort and he can be an Exacta factor despite losing Macdonald to (8) BETTORHOLDONTIGHT. The latter got an impossible parked out trip from a wide post last time. He is in with a shot here. (5) SPORTY BOB comes off a good closing effort vs. similar and he can take another share here. Race 7: NW $20,000 in 2023/24 This is a race that (2) TWIN B POWERBALL can take racing either on the lead or from the pocket and he should be tough to beat in this spot. He will be a single for me. (9) HES SWIFT was overtaken by a sharp pocket sitter last week and I could see him setting the pace and getting passed by the choice here, too but he is an Exacta factor. (7) THATLL BE TIGER raced okay first up last week. I can see him taking another slice here. (3) CAMEALONGWAY was a Gold winner at two but he last raced for a purse in 2021 so he will likely need at least a couple of starts before challenging for a win. He could sneak into the Super here. Race 8: NW $9,100 L5 AE: starters for a purse of $11K or less L2 (7) JILLIBY DYNAMITE A went off favored for his Mohawk debut but surprisingly showed no gate speed which was the start of his demise in that race. He drops and he should be much better tonight; top call. (4) BEYOND BETTER is razor-sharp right now and this might be a field he can rally past to take his first win of 2024; using. (2) MR IBIZA N missed a month, but it didn’t matter as he still handled his favored stablemate. This is tougher and I’ll use him underneath. (8) SHADOW IN RED’s comeback race was decent. He is worth using underneath at a price here. Race 9: NW $23,600 L5 - Pick 4 This race has the look of one that will set up for a closer that makes the last move and I’ll side with (5) H P MOMENTUM, who comes off a strong closing effort where he fired a fast kicker. (8) SOMETIME SOMEWHERE dropped and popped and Macdonald sticks. He is another that will likely be passing horses late in this mile. (4) CENTURY HEINEKEN raced well in defeat vs. similar two starts back and he should be in the mix here racing from close range. (1) JABBERWOCKY is a bit of a puzzle because he comes off a blowout fast win taken on a warm night then he was a vet scratch. He performs best when he gets things his own way for the entire mile, and I don’t see that happening in this spot. I’ll play to beat him. Race 10: 5YO and younger winners of 2 but not more than 4 or $45,000 LT (10) BEACH TOUR was buried with pace with absolutely nowhere to go for the entire stretch drive last week. I’ll take a stab with him here at what should be a big price from the widest post hoping Henry fires him off the gate. (5) NIGHTIME DANCER will no doubt leave faster tonight starting from the middle of the gate and that makes him one of the main contenders; using. (1) LARCENY goes for Auciello after shipping north and he seems to fit well vs. these. He is another possibility for late multi-race tickets. (7) GENTLEONMYMIND raced okay first-over last week. He can land in the bottom of the exotics tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 11: Claiming $50,000 (6) I AMA ROCKET raced better as expected last week, but the winner was just too tough. I’ll stick with him here starting from the best post. (7) JACK PANIC was a winner in his second start for Auciello, grinding it first-over and he should come right back and contend again vs. these; using. (4) YOURTHEONE is one a roll for Team Cullen and he comes in off a fast Flamboro win. He will have to be caught. (3) WOODMERE FENN is sharp but likely to close belatedly for a small slice again in this spot. Race 12: NW $4,100 L5 or $9,650 L10 AE: NW $23,450 in 2023/24 - Jackpot Hi 5 Mandatory Payout This race features a mandatory High-5 payout. (2) BIG BULLY has been a different horse in the Smith barn and Roy gave him a perfect steer to knock off a 2 to 5 shot last Saturday. He figures to get another good trip racing on or near the front and he gets the nod. (10) CONTROL THE POWER will likely fire out for McNair at the start and he has shown he can pace as fast as needed to clear from out there. He is another that I will be using on top. (4) STONE CARVER had a good post and Macdonald driving on 12/30 and he converted that night. He is a third one that I think can win. (5) P L OCTAVIUS is consistently in the top four. He is a good one to use underneath in this spot. (9) B STONEY is at the top of his form cycle, but I don’t love the wide post for him here. I can see him closing late to land on the edges. Others to consider for High-5 tickets: (12) RESPECT OUR FLAG is capable of a nice late rally on his best day, and he gets to follow the choice leaving the gate. (1) BLOCKBUSTER TRADE will likely sit an inside following trip the whole way and I could see him sneaking into the bottom of the ticket. (7) TAYLORS CREDIT consistently closes at the end of his miles. He is another that could grab 4th or 5th. My ticket: 2,4,10/2,4,10/2,4,5,9,10,12/2,4,5,9,10,12/1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,12 = $86.40
