Pick 5* (6) KENOGAMI COCO is coming off a break at Flamboro when starting from the second tier. She was a winner two starts back and now draws the winningest post at Mohawk Park and merits respect here; top call. (2) NO ANGEL LIKE ME was used early in the mile to secure early positioning and made a couple of moves in a narrow, 3rd-place finish. She has one big move at her disposal and is a threat if timed accordingly. (4) COOL CLIFFORD went on a speed mission at a big number and faded to 4th. He draws well and will more than likely be activated off the switch yet again. (3) GIVE ME KARETS K is coming off a dominant score at Flamboro and can be competitive in this spot with the right trip. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: CLAIMING HANDICAP $18,000 TO $24,000. (6) VINO LOUIE wasn’t much of a factor in his latest but will not race out of the barn of Shayne Barrington. He was 1st and 2nd respectively in his two starts prior, and will have James MacDonald at the controls this evening, who had his choice of 3 in this race. This trainer-driver duo has produced some good results as of late and I’ll give him top honors this evening. (2) LETS GET ROCKED made a big move late in the mile and simply had too much ground to make up. He was a good 3rd in that contest and merits respect. (4) KYLES ART has won 3 of his last 4 tries and is coming into this contest sharp. He will head back to the Joe Perreira barn, where he has put forth solid efforts consistently;  (1) SOMEWHEREINTUSCANY has hit the board in 2 of his last 5 starts and will now race for new trainer Brett Lester. He’s one to monitor and can get the ticket. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW $8,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (4) DEALIN WITH DEWEY was conservatively handled in his latest but was sneaky good finishing. He takes a tip in class this evening and should be all systems go in this field tonight. (1) ALL GAS NO BRAKES raced well in a tight, 3rd-place effort. He takes a dip in class this evening and should have every opportunity to find the winner’s circle. (2) PHOENIX showed sneaky trot in his latest in behind a couple of rivals. He should be tighter coming into this contest but hooks a tougher group. (3) PATRIARCH HANOVER was 3rd at this level last time out and should have every chance at landing on the ticket. Race 4:  NW $4,000 LAST 5 OR NW $16,500 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: N/A $1,800 P/S IN 2024-25. (8) DUPREE HANOVER is coming off a pretty leisure qualifier. He draws the outside in a short field and can get the job done at his best if right; hoping for value. (4) NEEDABANKLOAN comes off a 3rd place effort in his latest vs. a pair of rivals that are classier than he is. He should find this group to his liking and will be given every chance. (2) KOLBY TWO STEP has the ability to get the job done in this group but hasn’t been at his best over his last few tries. He has some ?’s but is worth using off ability alone. (7) LEGION SEELSTER was aggressively handled and disappointed as the chalk. He is capable of a good effort in this wide open race. Race 5:  5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (OS 5) RACES OR $50,000 (OS $67,500) LIFETIME. (8) SCINTILLATING TOM was aggressively handled in his 2nd start back off a qualifier and faded to 5th. He buzzed a quick first three-quarters and tired. He might be better off chasing and should be able to work out a stalking trip with some speed to chase vs. this group. (7) BRONZER didn’t fire in his first start back off an impressive qualifier. He has bounceback potential this evening and merits respect if at his best. (5) ROYAL BELUGA has been 2nd in two of his last three tries; he’s been racing well and should be right there with a favorable trip. (6) STEAMER didn’t fire off a good trip and finished 4th. He draws well here and should be pointed forward off the gate, and should be able to work out a favorable trip. Race 6:  NEW HOLLAND TROTTING SERIES: NW $150,000 (FM $175,000) IN 2023. (4) NEW RULES has been the most consistent trotter at WEG as of late and comes into this first leg very sharp. He has been no worse than 2nd over his last 6 starts and should have every opportunity to continue that streak here. I’ll give him top call off a better date. (2) FASHION FRENZIE will make his first start of 2025 as he gears up for the first leg of this New Holland series for trotters. He’s coming off a winning qualifier in what was an easy effort and should be able to beat this group at first-asking. (7) LOCATELLI finished well to round out the superfecta in his latest and will have every chance to finish up his mile to hit the ticket. (1) DREBIN was a gate-to-wire winner in his latest but hooks a tougher group this evening. He can land on the ticket. Race 7:  POP UP SERIES: NW $30,000 (F&M $37,500) IN 2024 (MIN 15 STARTS). (4) MACALLAN has been no worse than 2nd over his last 5 tries, and got picked off in the last step in his latest vs. a classier rival. He enters this first leg of the Pop-Up series as the one to beat and will have top honors off his recent effort and class edge alone. (7) SHADRACK HANOVER stayed trotting in his latest and finished up evenly at Flamboro. He has proven in the past he can get the best of this group on his best days and will likely be the biggest threat to the one above this evening. (9) EYES OF JUSTICE closed well off a perfect set up to score the victory in his latest. He will need a similar trip from the outside and can close for a share. (2) ARRAKIS has hit the board in 4 of his last 5 stars and can continue that trend here. Race 8:  CLAIMING HANDICAP $12,000 TO $16,000. (7) MACH IMPACT was 2nd at this level last time out and should appreciate not having to take on a pair of sharp rivals. (3) SPEAK OF WAR will head back over to the big track after being claimed in his most recent effort at London. He was a winner at Mohawk on 1/30 – albeit at a cheaper level – but is James MacDonald’s choice over 3 others in this contest. (4) BERENS WEAPON is coming off a win at Flamboro where he converted off a pocket trip. He should be confident coming in, but his recent tries at the big-track haven’t been all that great. (2) PICK A GENRE has hit the board in 2 of his last 3 and is a horse that can hit the ticket. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: NW $4,000 LAST 5 OR NW $16,000 LAST 10 STARTS (W/O $20,000 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). (6) CENTURY JAGUAR got a flat line under his belt last time out after consecutive breaks in two starts prior. The effort wasn’t a good one, but he hooks a field who isn’t at their best right now and was a narrow 2nd on 1/27 vs. a rival who has been climbing up the class ladder and racing well. He should be forwardly placed here and wouldn’t be that much of a surprise as a win candidate. (5) FIGHT SONG was a non-factor vs. tougher company and drops back down to a level where he’s been 2nd in a couple of outings. He draws well and should appreciate this group to his liking, but is winless in 6 starts this year. (2) BELLA CAVALLA is another rival that should appreciate the company she keeps this evening. She was better in her most recent but hasn’t been racing consistently well over his last several tries; she can wake up in this spot. (4) VICTOR INVICUTUS passed the choice in the stretch last week and is one that can get a big piece with the right trip. Race 10: NW $2,700 LAST 5 OR NW $7,000 LAST 10 STARTS. (7) PREMIER FIRST STAR planted himself on the rail at odds of 88/1 and never left the cones vs. tougher rivals. He takes a dip in class this evening and should look to take this group, gate-to-wire; top call. (8) LARCENY was a distant 2nd to a very sharp rival and will have every chance to pick off rivals late. (5) FASNACHT HANOVER takes drop in class after failing to hit the board over his last several tries. He’s better than what he’s shown and can grab a piece here. (4) BETTER SUNSET was just an even 5th in his latest off a winning qualifier. He can improve here tonight. (2) BEACHIN LINDY made a miscue late in the mile and is one that can pick up a big piece late with the right trip.
