HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Wet Paint established herself as one of the top choices for the Kentucky Oaks after completing a sweep of Oaklawn Park’s series for 3-year-old fillies Saturday in the Grade 3, $600,000 Fantasy. She was a powerful, 2 1/2-length winner over Taxed. It was another half-length back in third to Olivia Twist. Wet Paint ($3.20) used her patented closing kick to win her third consecutive Kentucky Oaks point race in the Fantasy, following the $200,000 Martha Washington and the Grade 3 Honeybee, both at Oaklawn. “Big run,” winning trainer Brad Cox said after the Fantasy. “The way she kind of just cruised up to the leaders today was really impressive. I thought it was equally as impressive as the Honeybee.” :: Take your handicapping to the next level and play with FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic.  Wet Paint dominated in the Honeybee, winning by three lengths on a sloppy track. She had registered all three of her wins on wet tracks up to the Fantasy, which was run on a fast surface Saturday. “I was proud to see how she performed on a dry track today,” Cox said. “I’ve been getting that question a lot the last couple of weeks. She was certainly breezing well on a [dry track]. You never know until they do it, and today she stepped up and did it.” Wet Paint could see the whole field for the first half-mile as Grand Love set fractions of 22.98 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.08, pushed along by Condensation. Wet Paint began her run into the final turn, rallied four wide around the bend, and had more in the stretch. She won in hand under jockey Flavien Prat, covering the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.08 and getting an 89 Beyer Speed Figure. Wet Paint picked up 100 points for the Kentucky Oaks in the Fantasy. Taxed earned 40 for second, Olivia Twist picked up 30 for third, Condensation earned 20 for fourth and Grand Love earned 10 for her fifth-place finish. Cox was winning his second stakes on the card, having accounted for the $200,000 Hot Springs with Triple Crown nominee Eyeing Clover. The feature Saturday is the Arkansas Derby in which he was to saddle Angel of Empire.   Wet Paint is a daughter of Blame who races for her breeder, Godolphin. She has now won 4 of 6 starts and the first-place check of $354,900 that she earned in the Fantasy pushed her career earnings to $689,000.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
