HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – West Omaha will most likely make her next start in the Grade 2, $300,000 Black-Eyed Susan on May 17 at Pimlico Race Course, trainer Brad Cox said Tuesday. West Omaha is coming off a runner-up finish in the Grade 2, $750,000 Fantasy at Oaklawn and ranks fourth in Kentucky Oaks points with 90. She was to have shipped Tuesday to Churchill Downs for owners Gary and Mary West. “After talking it over with Mr. West, it looks like we’ll probably pursue the Black-Eyed Susan,” Cox said. “We’ll just see how everything plays out.” West and Cox also plan to keep a close eye on Kentucky Oaks developments. “If we felt like the way the race is playing out changes over the next weeks, we can come back to the Oaks,” Cox said. “But right now, we’re going to zero in on the Black-Eyed Susan.” West Omaha won the Silverbulletday in January at Fair Grounds. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
