It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the overflowing Super Bowl 59 prop bet menus at the major online sportsbooks this week.  But we’re temporarily setting aside the 1,001 Saquon Barkley props and the typical Big Game offerings here to highlight some of the weird, unusual and novelty prop bets posted for Sunday’s Lombardi Trophy clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.  All of the following Super Bowl 59 props and odds at the major sports betting apps are as of Monday, Feb. 3, and are subject to change.     First touchdown jersey number (Under 15.5 -115, Over 15.5 -115 at DraftKings) The DraftKings Sportsbook Novelty Props menu is an annual go-to in the off-beat prop hunt, and it delivers again this season. Kick off your Super Bowl props with this intriguing wager on the jersey number of the player who tallies the first TD. With the Under, you’ll cash with an initial touchdown from the likes of the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith or the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, Isiah Pacheco, Xavier Worthy or Marquise Brown. Meanwhile, the Over will hit with the likes of the Eagles’ Saquon Barkley or Dallas Goedert or K.C.’s Kareem Hunt or Travis Kelce.  Will there be an Octopus? (Yes +1300, No -3500 at DraftKings) Find this prop under DK’s Game Props tab. For those new to gridiron octopi, it occurs when a player notches an 8-point play — i.e. scoring a rushing or receiving TD and then scores the ensuing 2-point conversion. The prop famously cashed in the fourth quarter of the Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl two years ago, and Barkley also tallied an octopus this past September. That was one of just nine NFL octopi this season, though, and there have only been 30 total in the 854 games (playoff included) since the start of the 2022 season. Non-QB TD pass(+2000 at FanDuel) This prop, found in the FanDuel Sportsbook Scoring menu, is sure to attract interest given the teams playing in the Big Easy. Three non-quarterbacks have thrown touchdown passes for Kansas City since coach Andy Reid assumed the reins in 2013. And Eagles tight end Trey Burton memorably connected with QB Nick Foles on the 1-yard Philly Special scoring pass seven years ago in Super Bowl 52.  Any lineman to score a TD (+1800 at FanDuel) Big-man touchdowns are always a fan favorite, and this prop can be found under FanDuel’s Game Specials tab. The prop wording must be noted here as it would not only pay with a 300-pounder scoring a rushing TD or on a tackle-eligible play, but also on a defensive lineman TD as well via a fumble or interception return. Any kick attempt to hit upright or crossbar (Yes +550, No -800 at Caesars) The Caesars Sportsbook Kicking tab menu is where you’ll find this particular prop. Field goal or extra point “doinks” surely must be tracked somewhere — as NFL octopi currently are — but it definitely seems like we see (or hear) at least one every other NFL game or so. Flea Flicker (Yes +210, No -270 at DraftKings) Here’s another prop listed under DK’s Novelty Props tab. And what we said above about the creative and tricky recent nature of the Chiefs and Eagles applies here as well in accessing the chances of a Big Easy flea flicker. Scorigami: Unique Final Score in NFL History (Yes +2800, No -10000 at BetMGM) Find this prop under the BetMGM Sportsbook Scoring Props tab. As mentioned, NFL octopi are tracked and documented — and so are Scorigamis. We’ve had seven unique NFL final game scores in the 2024 season, including one in the playoffs: The Houston Texans’ 32-12 AFC wild-card win over the Los Angeles Chargers. For the record, the Chiefs’ 38-35 victory over the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 was not a Scorigami. It was the 24th (and most recent) NFL game with that point combination. But there have been three scorigamis in the 58 previous Super Bowls. And, interestingly, all three of those Super Scorigamis came in games lost by the Denver Broncos: 39-20 in 1987, 55-10 in 1990 and 43-8 in 2014. Sadly, the Broncos were bounced by the Buffalo Bills in the AFC wild-card round, and didn’t make it to New Orleans. But perhaps the Chiefs and Eagles will combine for a doink and/or octopus or three Sunday to produce a fourth Super Scorigami.
