Intricate, the 5 1/4-length winner of the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes last month at Churchill, is likely to make her 3-year-old debut in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes on Feb. 17, trainer Brendan Walsh said. Intricate, a daughter of Gun Runner, was fifth in her sprint debut, captured a Keeneland maiden route second time out, and made short work of seven rivals in the Golden Rod on Nov. 25. “We’re just keeping her ticking over down [at Fair Grounds] for the moment, light training,” Walsh said. “We’ll probably keep her fresh and go straight to the Rachel.” :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Pretty Mischievous won the Grade 1 Acorn and the Grade 1 Test following the Oaks, ending her campaign with a second-place finish in the Grade 1 Cotillion on Sept. 23 at Parx Racing. The filly traveled to California eyeing the Breeders’ Cup Distaff but wasn’t at her best physically and was scratched from the race. Pretty Mischievous, a Godolphin homebred, remains on a winter break but is due to join Walsh’s Fair Grounds string “in another couple weeks,” Walsh said, and is unlikely to make a spring Grade 1 like the Apple Blossom. “We’re not in any major hurry to start her back. Kentucky probably is the main thing,” Walsh said. Honor Marie to Risen Star Honor Marie, a two-length winner of the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes on Nov. 25, is in steady training at Fair Grounds but is not expected to breeze until early January and seems likely to make his 3-year-old bow in the Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 17. “We gave him a light December and he’s doing fantastic,” trainer Whit Beckman said. “I think we’re going straight to the Risen Star. His coat is fantastic, his energy is great – he’s a happy horse.” Honor Marie, by Honor Code, made this third start and route debut in the Kentucky Jockey Club, coming from last of eight to win going away with a 92 Beyer Speed Figure. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
