Wednesday’s main event at Gulfstream Park is a modest $59,000 first-level allowance and optional-claiming dash to be decided at 5 1/2 furlongs on the Tapeta. It lured a full field of a dozen Florida-bred fillies and mares. Walks Like a Lady and Face the Music, who finished first and second, respectively, under similar conditions Nov. 25, will square off again and top a long list of leading contenders that includes Starship Sunrise, Bodacious Bren, Sergeant Molly, and Omo Ten Girl. Walks Like a Lady rallied from midpack to a 1 3/4-length victory over the pacesetting Face the Music in the pair’s previous meeting. The outing was the first and only time Walks Like a Lady has faced statebreds in 16 career starts. :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports Face the Music set a contested pace before succumbing to Walks Like a Lady in their previous encounter and figures to receive similar pace pressure again in the rematch. A model of consistency, Face the Music has never finished off the board in eight lifetime starts. Starship Sunrise returns for the first time since finishing second, beaten a neck, under similar conditions over the turf May 7. Bodacious Bren also was a narrowly beaten and well-graded second in her most recent outing, which came against open starter-allowance opposition over the synthetic track here just 10 days earlier. Sergeant Molly and Omo Ten Girl also figure to be part of the early pace. Sergeant Molly will be taking on Florida-breds for the first time, while Omo Ten Girl must overcome a tough post, breaking from near the extreme outside in the bulky lineup while exiting a game second-place effort against similar competition in her 2023 finale. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
