With Kentucky in the grips of a major winter storm, followed by days of frigid temperatures, Turfway Park has again modified its schedule, cancelling Thursday evening's scheduled card.  The $180,036 carryover into the late Pick 5 that was scheduled for Thursday will now shift to Friday's card, the track said in announcing the cancellation on Monday afternoon.  A storm brought significant snow and ice to a wide swath of Kentucky on Sunday and Monday, and wind chills could send the lows to single digits behind that this week. Turfway had already announced that it would shift its scheduled Wednesday card to Sunday, Jan. 12, with a 1 p.m. first post. If the weather does not cause additional changes to the schedule, the track will now have a three-day race week on Friday, Saturday - including the $125,000 Likely Exchange Stakes for fillies and mares - and Sunday. Turfway was open for training on Sunday morning before the weather moved in to the region, with 41 timed works recorded on the Tapeta. There was no training Monday, and in a communication sent to horsemen, the track said it anticipated being closed for training several additional days this week.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
