Trainer Enzo Canelo was suspended by the Beulah Park stewards for a year and fined $1,000 for running the wrong horse in the fourth race at Beulah Park on Nov. 19. Valid Action, trained by Canelo, was entered in the race but it was discovered in the test barn after the race that the horse who ran was Purdy Tricky, another Canelo charge. Purdy Tricky won the $2,500 claiming race and paid $8.60. Assistant paddock judge Teresa Mularkey was filling in for the regular identifier that day. She has been suspended six months and fined $500 for not catching the mix-up in the paddock before the race. Both Canelo and Mularkey are expected to appeal the ruling.
