Jockey Francisco Torres swept both stakes at Louisiana Downs on Saturday, when he guided Silent Pipe to a front-running win in the $50,000 Free Spirit s Joy, and Lightlightlight to a half-length score in the $50,000 Fantasia. Both races were for 3-year-olds at six furlongs, and both were restricted to horses bred in Louisiana. Silent Pipe ($4.80) broke well and was part of a three-way speed duel with Zacaroid and Captain Silver through fractions of 23.17 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 46.62 for the half-mile. Silent Pipe moved clear of his pace rivals in the stretch, going on to a four-length win in 1:10.96. Sturges Ducoing trains Silent Pipe for Daniel Lynch and Merrill Scherer. Lightlightlight ($4.80) rallied for a half-length win over Master Link in the Fantasia. It was another 3 1/2 lengths back to Trysting in third. Steve Asmussen trains the winner for Heiligbrodt Racing Stable. Lightlightlight covered the distance in 1:11.21.
