Jockeys Tyler Gaffalione, Flavien Prat, and Luis Saez are among the riders who will be at Remington Park in Oklahoma City next Friday night for the $300,000 Springboard Mile. The race for 2-year-olds awards eligibility points for the Kentucky Derby. The first five finishers will earn them on a scale of 10-5-3-2-1. Gaffalione has the mount on Otto the Conqueror, who will break from post 8 in the nine-horse Springboard Mile. Prat has been named on Gettysburg Address, who starts from post 3. Otto the Conqueror, who is coming off a first-level allowance win at Churchill Downs for trainer Steve Asmussen, should vie for favoritism with Glengarry, who is undefeated in three starts and in his most recent race captured the Bowman Mill at Keeneland for trainer Doug Anderson. Gettysburg Address was fourth in the Street Sense last out at Churchill Downs for trainer Brad Cox. Saez has won a past running of the Springboard Mile, taking the race in 2020 with Cool Arrow. Prat has won the Grade 3 Remington Park Oaks, and Gaffalione has come in for just two mounts through the years at Remington. The Springboard Mile will be supported by four other stakes. The $75,000 Trapeze is for 2-year-old fillies at a mile. Prat has the mount on West Omaha for Cox. Gaffalione will ride Tx Women for Arts for Asmussen. In the $75,000 Jeffrey Hawk Memorial, Gaffalione rides Presidential for Asmussen, while Prat is on Pioneer of Medina for Cox, and Saez rides Promise Keeper for trainer Sean Williams. First post is a special 5 p.m. Central. Remington has added an additional date to its meet, next Saturday, Dec. 16, to make up for the loss of Wednesday night's card to track lighting issues.
