In a battle of skilled synthetic runners, multiple stakes winner Timeless Fashion repelled an early stretch bid from Ordination, and after edging away from that rival in the final sixteenth of a mile, lasted by a scant nose over an onrushing Stately Victor in Saturday’s $50,000 Prairie Bayou Stakes at Turfway Park. Astute placement from jockey James Lopez likely resulted in the victory for Timeless Fashion. Normally on or near the pace, Timeless Fashion ($9.80) rated kindly in third early, as longshots Get Rich Quick and Dynamite Bob contested the pace with moderate fractions of 24.44 seconds and 48.47 in the 1 1/8-mile Prairie Bayou. Leaving the second of two turns, Lopez and Timeless Fashion made their move three-wide, but so too did Ordination, who rallied up along the inside and took the lead from the winner with a furlong to go. But Timeless Fashion was gradually able to pull past him late, and had just enough left to hold off Bluegrass Stakes winner Stately Victor, whose rally appeared to fall a stride short of victory. Ordination was a head behind the top two in third. Timeless Fashion, a 6-year-old son of Sky Classic trained by Tom Drury and owned by Judy Miller and R-Cher Family Farms, covered the nine furlongs on Polytrack in 1:53.04.
