ALTOONA, IOWA – Holland Aces ran down Dash of Paint to prevail by three-quarters of a length in Saturday night’s $68,200 Jim Bader Futurity at Prairie Meadows. The win in the final race of the meet enabled Charley Hunt to capture the meet’s title as leading trainer with 22 wins, one more than Brian Muse. Holland Aces ($11.60) covered the 350 yards in 17.42 seconds. In the other four stakes on the closing-night Iowa Champions Night for statebreds: * In the $35,000 Iowa Claiming Classic at 350 yards Where the Lmi ($9.60) rallied in the center of the track under Tom Wellington to win by1 1/4 lengths in a time of 17.55. * Cartel's Belle ($2.40) won the $40,000 Future of Iowa at 350 yards. Stormy Smith got the filly to break sharply and wore down leader Brimin Special in the final yards to win by a length in a time 17.41. The win enabled Smith to tie Bill Ives for leading jockey with 28 victories apiece. * The $50,000 Terrace Hill at 440 yards was reduced to three runners after two scratches. WRS Special Shoe ($2.40) moved quickly from the gate under Randy Wilson and maintained a neck advantage through the stretch to win the race for the third time. He broke his own stakes record with a time of 21.44. * In the $65,400 Polk County Derby at 400 yards, Man N Black ($14.80) and Tom Wellington outlasted 3-2 favorite The Regal Streak to win by three-quarters of a length in a time of 19.68.
