Texas has ended its ban on shippers from Fair Grounds after Louisiana officials lifted a quarantine that had been imposed on a barn at the New Orleans track last month after a filly tested positive for equine herpesvirus. In response to the positive, the Texas Racing Commission had directed its racetracks and licensed training facilities not to accept horses from Fair Grounds. The policy was put in place Dec. 31. The Fair Grounds quarantine was lifted last week after all 66 horses residing in the barn where the filly had been stabled tested negative for the virus. Texas officials said they would continue to monitor the situation in Louisiana.
