A field of 11 3-year-olds was entered Wednesday for Saturday's Grade 1, $1 million Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, with favored Tapit Trice drawing the rail in his final prep for the Kentucky Derby. The Blue Grass anchors the biggest card of Keeneland's front-loaded 15-day spring meet, with five graded stakes races on tap. First post is 12:30 p.m. for the 11-race card. The Blue Grass is one of the final major-point prep races for the Kentucky Derby. The race awards points to the top five finishers on a 100-40-30-20-10 scale. Tapit Trice was third on debut last fall, and since then has won an Aqueduct maiden race, a Gulfstream allowance-optional event, and the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby on March 11. He earned 50 Kentucky Derby points for that effort, which came under Luis Saez. :: KENTUCKY DERBY 2023: Derby Watch, point standings, prep schedule, news, and more He will again have Saez aboard Saturday. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Tapit Trice was installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite.  “Not exactly the draw we wanted, but he did win the allowance race at Gulfstream Park from post 1,” Pletcher said. Raise Cain also won a 50-point prep last out in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct. Trained by Ben Colebrook, he also is among the favorites in the Blue Grass. Blazing Sevens won the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes last fall and finished fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Keeneland. He was eighth in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth in his 2023 debut.
