ARCADIA, Calif. - Storm the Hill closed furiously in the final furlong to win the first stakes of her career in Saturday’s $82,435 Unzip Me Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita. Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Storm the Hill ($16.80) won by a head over 9-2 Tapped, who finished a head in front of 9-1 Spin Me a Kiss, who appeared a winner in the stretch. Kathy’s Song was fourth in the field of 12. Storm the Hill was timed in 1:12.21. Owned by the partnership of Gary Barber, Silver Ranch Stable and Wachtel Stable, Storm the Hill is trained by Peter Miller. By Get Stormy, Storm the Hill has won 3 of 13 starts and earned $160,995. She was seventh in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks in her last start on Aug. 19. The win left Miller and Nakatani in ornery moods. Miller donned Nakatani’s riding helmet, while Nakatani wore Miller’s Panama hat during a post-race television interview.
