Stolis Winner, the reigning world champion Quarter Horse, dominated the trials for the Grade 1, $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby last weekend at Lone Star Park. He set the fastest time for the Oct. 24 finale when he won his 440-yard trial on a track rated good in 21.22 seconds. The second-fastest qualifier, Mr Jess Perrier, covered the distance in 21.37. Stolis Winner darted home to win his trial by 1 3/4 lengths. The victory was Stolis Winner's first of the year. He has raced two other times in 2009, finishing third in his trial for the Grade 1 All American Derby on Aug. 21, then eighth in the finale Sept. 6. G.R. Carter is the regular rider of Stolis Winner for Jerry Windham and trainer Heath Taylor. Also last weekend, Swingin Daddyo set a Lone Star track record for 400 yards when he won his maiden in a trial race for the Grade 1, $494,650 Dash for Cash Futurity. He covered the distance in 19.45 seconds to lower the mark of 19.48 set by Eyesa Special on Nov. 25, 2000.
