Though Wood Memorial winner Toby’s Corner returned to his barn at the Fair Hill training center from the New Bolton Center on Tuesday night, trainer Graham Motion said Wednesday morning there is still no definitive diagnosis on what caused the horse to go lame in his left rear leg. “They haven’t found anything,” Motion said Wednesday morning. “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. He’s still not 100 percent this morning. Best-case scenario, it’s a muscle strain or tear; something that’s fixable or temporary.” Motion said that Toby’s Corner will likely just walk the shed row at Fair Hill for a week before being re-evaluated with either X-rays or another bone scan. KENTUCKY DERBY NEWS: Track all the 3-year-olds on the Triple Crown trail Motion said he “fell over” when his assistant, Adrian Rolls, called him Monday to tell him something was wrong with Toby’s Corner. “It’s just your worst nightmare, that’s what it is,” Motion said. “You get these calls every morning, you just hope it’s not the horse running in the Kentucky Derby.” Motion will still have a horse to run in the Kentucky Derby, Animal Kingdom, as well as a major contender for the Kentucky Oaks in Summer Soiree.
