Gary Stevens, the recently retired Hall of Fame jockey, and Laffit Pincay III, a network television analyst, will be part of selected FOX Sports “Saturday at the Races” broadcasts as well as many “NYRA Live” shows this summer, it was announced Thursday. Stevens announced his retirement from riding this year and last week underwent neck surgery. It is not certain when Stevens will join the FOX Sports broadcasts, though it is hoped he will be available by Wood Memorial Day, April 6, at the latest, according to Tony Allevato, president of NYRA Bets and NYRA’s executive television producer. Allevato said Pincay’s first show will be on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18, when he will host a FOX program from Oaklawn Park. Pincay will also host programs from Oaklawn on April 12-14. Stevens will be part of “NYRA Live” broadcasts during Belmont Stakes week as well as the July 6 Stars and Stripes program, according to Allevato. Both Stevens and Pincay will be part of the “Saratoga Live” programs aired daily from the Saratoga meet, which runs July 11 through Sept. 2. Stevens and Pincay will be joined by handicapper Jonathon Kinchen, host Greg Wolf, and handicapper/analysts Andy Serling, Maggie Wolfendale, trainer Tom Amoss, and Paul Lo Duca. Earlier this year, NYRA announced that it has expanded its television presence to have 500 hours of programming, with a show nearly every racing day from Belmont and Saratoga. The broadcast schedule will then expand to more than 600 hours annually in 2020.
