Star of the North won her third consecutive race Saturday night when she darted to a 2 1/4-length victory over Wink Texas in the $75,000 Darby’s Daughter division of the Texas Stallion Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park. It was another two lengths back in third to Swift Red Bull. The Darby's Daughter was a 5 1/2-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies by eligible stallions. It was one of two stakes on the card. Carbon Stryker won the companion race, the $75,000 My Dandy. Star of the North ($3.60) was always prominent, racing on the lead through fractions of 21.97 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.73 for the half-mile. Star of the North has now won 3 of 4 starts, with her current streak starting with a maiden special weight win in August at Canterbury and continuing with a victory in that track’s Northern Lights Debutante on Sept. 9. She is a daughter of The Hunk who races for Michael Grossman and is trained by Francisco Bravo. Star of the North has earned $125,350. Carbon Stryker became a stakes winner in the My Dandy, which he won by 2 1/4 lengths over Stone Cafe. It was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third to Sr. Bi Bi. Carbon Stryker ($8) set fractions of 22.35 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.66 for the half-mile before finishing up the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.26. Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez was aboard the winner for trainer Karl Broberg. Carbon Stryker is a son of Crossbow who races for Three Feathers Farm.
