ELMONT, N.Y. - Anthony Stabile confirmed Wednesday he has resigned from his position at the New York Racing Association, where he held several roles including co-host of “Talking Horses.” Stabile declined to go into details over the specifics of why he resigned – which he officially did June 8 – though he was suspended two weeks by NYRA for a video that circulated of him threatening trainer Jim Chapman in May on the Belmont backstretch. :: Get ready for summer racing with a DRF Formulator Quarterly PP plan Chapman, who trains the top 3-year-old sprinter Drew’s Gold, was recently arrested and charged with stalking trainer Amira Chichakly. Stabile worked at NYRA since September 2016. In addition to handicapping, Stabile did some back-up announcing during the winter, was part of the rotation on “America’s Day at the Races” on FS1 and FS2, and provided content for the NYRA website. Stabile, who by resigning is allowed to attend the races at NYRA as a fan, will serve as part-time track announcer at Yonkers Raceway where he also will appear on the track’s in-house simulcasting show. Stabile will do some consulting for an upstart partnership that races under the moniker Phoenix Rising and is contemplating starting his own racing website. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
