Welcome to Spa Babies! I'll break down the statistics for every juvenile contest at the meet. Hopefully, we'll end up with a tidy profit. Thursday's results:Race 2 - Ciminella finished secondRace 5 - Livin Well Babe scratched; second choice Roaring Belle scratched; third choice Dream Train finished thirdRace 7 - Midnight Mass finished thirdRace 9 - Fearless Cowboy finished third Friday, August 21, 2009 Race 36 FurlongsOptional Claiming ($75,000/N1X)2-year-oldsPurse $52,000 Analysis:Although RED RALLY has yet to win a race on dirt, he was hardly disgraced in his career debut when finishing behind Bashford Manor and Sanford winner Backtalk, and the promising Thiskyhasnolimit.  His subsequent turf starts have been good, and Red Rally shouldn't be too far away when the field straightens into the stretch.  SOUNDMAN is 0-3 against winners, but he was simply overmatched in his last two races, and should appreciate the class relief here.  He figures to run and gun from the inside post, but may face a good amount of pressure.BRICKLAYER would benefit if the pace is hot.  He was simply outsprinted in the Sanford, but figures to improve with the addition of blinkers as he makes the second start of the form cycle.  CHINA could be any kind.  He absolutely aired at sixty cents to the dollar over Keeneland's polytrack, but has been away since late April, and must now prove his mettle over a dirt course at a likely short price.  Mate INTERACTIF may scratch as John Velazquez is named on both halves of the Pletcher-trained entry.  Interactif and Soundman dueled each other into defeat in the Sanford, and must avoid another protracted battle here. HONOR IN PEACE was one of the few Wesley Ward-trained babies that didn't take Royal Ascot by storm, but he probably didn't handle the grass, and should appreciate getting back on the main track.  His only win came in gate-to-wire fashion, but he may not be fast enough to make the front here.  DP THE FACILITATOR exits a slow allowance race at Churchill Downs, and needed maiden special weights at River Downs in order to graduate.  These may just be too tough.  MOON NISTLE's lone win came in a maiden claimer over the Tapeta track at Presque Isle Downs, and may find this spot a bit challenging. Selections:  1.  Red Rally  2.  Soundman  3.  Bricklayer The Play:  Red Rally to Win at 2-1 odds or greater. *** Race 67 FurlongsMaiden Special Weight2-year-old filliesPurse $55,000 1.  GENUINE CHARM (Dixie Union - Alluring, by A.P. SING MY SONG rallied in the stretch of her debut to pick up a piece of the purse, and can certainly move forward off that effort for an excellent barn.Trainer Bill Mott historically does excellent work with second-time starters at the Spa, and DYNAZAPER rallied in his career debut.  He's got the bloodlines to be a good horse.COQUINA DAY adds blinkers after a dull debut, but needs a good deal of improvement to contend for top honors.  GENUINE CHARM didn't have the easiest of trips in her debut, but wasn't flattered when the winner of that heat, Union Waters, came back to bomb as the favorite.  AWESOME VOW was simply outsprinted in her career debut, and may be closer to the pace this time around.  SPREADINGTHEWEALTH showed good early speed in a key race at Delaware, and looms a strong pace factor again.  MINED OVER MATTER may want more ground. COUTURE CAT boasts a beautiful pedigree, and wouldn't be a surprise for Tom Albertrani.  JUMP STAR could need a start.
