OZONE PARK, N.Y. – A hot trainer with a hot horse invades Aqueduct for the Friday feature. Trainer Michael S. Ferraro sends out Smitten by Gold in Friday’s $65,000 allowance race for New York-bred fillies and mares at a mile and 70 yards, and he will be trying to transfer a hot streak he’s enjoyed at Finger Lakes to Aqueduct. Over six racing days at Finger Lakes, from Nov. 24 through Tuesday, Ferraro won 13 races from 20 starts (covering 18 races). He won two races Monday and three more Tuesday and had more top contenders entered Wednesday through Friday, which is closing day at the upstate New York track. Shipping in, you’re at a disadvantage.” The Mitch Friedman-trained entry of Carameaway and Dreaming of Cara will be heavily favored. Miss Da Point returns from a July layoff and is 4 for 9 over the inner track. Miss Narcissist stretches out around two turns for the first time. Lady Gracenote, a 7-year-old mare, is trying to end a nine-race losing streak. DRF FORMULATOR FACT: No. 4 Miss Narcissist. Carameaway (Last 3 Beyers: 80-88-82) ◗ She and Dreaming of Cara – her entrymate in this spot – ran 1-2 in the Saratoga Dew Stakes at Saratoga in August. Carameaway came back with an equally strong allowance win at Belmont before finishing third behind winner Princess Violet in the Empire Distaff. “We were coming off two strong efforts, and sometimes it’s tough to put together three in a row,” Friedman said. “But she’s freshened up and ready to go.” ◗ Friedman said Carameaway will appreciate stretching out around two turns. ◗ Dreaming of Cara, who finished seventh in the Empire Distaff, came out of that race full of mucus, according to Friedman. Miss Da Point (Last 3 Beyers 57-73-76) ◗ She put together a three-race winning streak around this time last year, including two wins over the inner track. ◗ She has not been out since finishing seventh of 10 as the favorite in a Finger Lakes stakes on July 5.
