GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Skwhirl rallied with a sweeping move into the stretch and ran down 4-5 favorite Bevys Best in the closing yards to claim the $25,900 Ogataul Stakes for older Nebraska-breds on Saturday at Fonner Park. Skwhirl ($41.20) rallied from sixth entering the far turn of the six-furlong Ogataul but still had three lengths to make up on pacesetting Bevys Best entering the final furlong. With Jesus Ponce riding, Skwhirl ran down the favorite to prevail by a neck in 1:12.40 over a fast track. The win was his fifth from 35 career starts, with all his wins coming in stakes company for trainer Bob Rising. Skwhirl was winless in 2008 and had finished fourth in his seasonal debut on Feb. 22 against $10,000 claiming company.
