The popular Silver Prospector will be going for his third straight win of the Remington Park meet on Saturday night, in a no-conditions allowance over 1 1/16 miles. The earner of $1.6 million is part of a field of six that includes Paluxy, the 2023 winner of the Governor’s Cup, and Without a Trace, the runner-up in this year’s edition, who is coming off an allowance win at Remington. Silver Prospector has won back-to-back allowances at mile at Remington. The starts were his first wins since February at Oaklawn. Silver Prospector, who is now 7, is moving back to the distance over which he was a graded stakes winner at 2 and 3. “I think it’s very important to get the old guy back winning,” trainer Steve Asmussen said. “He’s always had a lot of ability. I think him walking over there expecting to win is very important.” Asmussen said Silver Prospector has a stakes option later in the meet in the $75,000 Jeffrey Hawk Memorial on Dec. 13. The horse races for Ed and Susie Orr. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
