GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Silver Prospector won the richest race of Lone Star Park’s meet last month in the Grade 3, $400,000 Steve Sexton Mile. Now, he’ll bid for the biggest purse of the season at Prairie Meadows.   Trainer Steve Asmussen said Tuesday that Silver Prospector is being pointed to the Grade 3, $300,000 Cornhusker Handicap. The 1 1/8-mile race will be run July 9 at Prairie Meadows as part of the Iowa Festival of Racing. Silver Prospector breezed Sunday at Lone Star, going a half-mile in 50.40 seconds in his first move since the Sexton Mile on May 30. For his effort in the Sexton Mile, he earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 100.   “That was the best number of his racing career,” Asmussen said.   Asmussen said Silver Prospector’s other superlative performance came in 2019, when he won the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill over Tiz the Law. Tiz the Law would go on to win the Florida Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Travers.   :: Get ready for Saratoga and Del Mar with a Quarterly subscription to DRF Past Performances  Silver Prospector races for Ed and Susie Orr.   On the undercard of the Sexton Mile, Asmussen saddled Kalypso to victory in the $100,000 Memorial Day Sprint. She had her first work back Sunday at Churchill, breezing a half-mile in 51.80.   Asmussen said Kalypso is being pointed to the Grade 3, $200,000 Chicago at Churchill. The seven-furlong race for fillies and mares is June 25.   More turf for blue Brentley The Asmussen-trained Brentley is arguably the best bred horse to race this meet at Lone Star as a son of Frankel and champion Untapable. The 4-year-old won a local maiden special weight over 1 1/16 miles on turf on June 10. Brentley, who launched his career in February, was making his fifth start and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 75.   “With his pedigree – he's a horse that's gotten better with time,” Asmussen said. “That was by far his best race.”   Asmussen said the plan is to look for more turf opportunities for Brentley. The horse is the first foal from Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Untapable, an earner of $3.9 million that Asmussen trained for Brentley’s breeder and owner, Winchell Thoroughbreds. Brentley was bred in England.   A. P.’s secret eyes Dwyer Stakes A. P.’s Secret, who ran third in the $300,000 Texas Derby on the undercard of the Sexton Mile, could be headed back to New York for his next start.  Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said last week that plans for the horse have not been finalized, but that one possibility is the Grade 3, $250,000 Dwyer at Belmont Park. The mile race is July 2.   :: Bet the races on DRF Bets! Sign up with code WINNING to get a $250 Deposit Match, $10 Free Bet, and FREE DRF Formulator. The last time A.
