CYPRESS, Calif. – Show N Tell Cartel, claimed for $16,000 last August, won for the second time in his 13-race career with an upset victory in Sunday’s $235,600 El Primero Del Ano Derby for Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos. Starting from the outside in a field of eight, Show N Tell Cartel trailed by a neck through the first 200 yards of the 400-yard race before prevailing by a head. Ridden by Cesar Franco, Show N Tell Cartel ($22.20) was timed in 20.03 seconds. Defending Champ (6-1) finished second, a nose in front of 2-5 favorite Train B Taka, who bobbled slightly at the start but was always in contention. Train B Taka was the fastest qualifier from four trials on March 2, but he failed to replicate the effort on Sunday. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing!
