Senor Buscador, who spent a brief time on the Kentucky Derby trail in 2021, makes his first start since that year’s Risen Star in Sunday’s eighth race at Lone Star Park. He has been prepping for his return at Ruidoso Downs.  Senor Buscador showed promise at 2, when he won both his career debut and the Springboard Mile at Remington Park. He went on to finish a troubled fifth in the Risen Star and later sustained an injury that kept him out of further preps for the Kentucky Derby. Trainer Todd Fincher said earlier in the meet that Senor Buscador is one of the horses he plans to bring with him this summer to Del Mar. The project is part of the Texas Thoroughbred Association New Owner Marketing Plan. The stable is managed by CJ Thoroughbreds – a partnership comprised of longtime racing executive Corey Johnsen, his son C.J. Johnsen, and former NFL player and racing executive Mike Renfro.  Trainer Danny Pish trains Straight Luck, who is now being pointed for a division of the $150,000 Texas Thoroughbred Association Sale Futurity on July 17 at Lone Star, according to the press release.  The group of racing club members include Wade Phillips, former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys; Reed Preston, a noted homebuilder; Bob Sambol, a restauranteur; Norm Hitzges, Gary West and Donavan Lewis, who are well-known media members; Bill Casner, co-owner of Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver; and Jeff Hooper, an executive with Highlander Training Center.   * Quick Quick Quick, who won an allowance last Friday at Lone Star, is being considered for the track’s $150,000 Chicken Fried Stakes for fillies and mares July 16, said trainer J.R. Caldwell. The stakes will be run over the same five-furlong turf-sprint trip as the allowance. Quick Quick Quick covered the distance in 56.42 seconds and earned a Beyer Figure of 82. Quick Quick Quick is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Super Quick.  * Lone Star will have a special post time of 5 p.m. Central on both Sunday and Monday to accommodate fireworks after the races.
