Aqueduct | Race 5 | Post Time 3:23 p.m. (ET) I don't want to settle for a short price on Proud Divi (#5), who is supposed to play out as the primary speed in this spot. She's moving up in class after just missing at the $25k claiming level, but she also got a very good trip on that occasion. She set a comfortable pace and still got run down by a rival who looked inferior on paper. She's obviously going out for a dangerous barn, but this is a step up in class and I thought horses like Sandi's Satire (#2) and Dat Dares Right (#8) could potentially keep her company on the front end. The horse keeping the best company of anyone in this field is Amy's Light (#3), who has been on a steady diet of allowance races since last fall. She actually ran quite well in a couple of races sprinting in October and November of last year before lacking finish at a mile in her last couple of starts. She figures to appreciate this turnback in distance as well as the drop in class. It's just a little hard to take an expected short price on these connections given that this filly has been double-digit odds in all of her recent starts. Despo's Dream (#1) seems likely to rebound here after a dismal showing last time. Yet she didn't get the right trip over that Feb. 15 surface that was favoring outside paths. She was towards the inside for much of her trip and never able to launch a rally. She has been a disappointment in both starts since the claim by Linda Rice, but now she's dropping down to a level at which she finished a good second last October while also picking up this barn's primary jockey. My top pick is Saucy Six (#7), who has subtly been improving over her last several starts. She hit the wire in a photo for third two back with Street View, who has since gone on to win two races in a row and would be a strong favorite against this field. She had run better than it looks in a couple of her prior starts here, including when she was wide against a rail bias on Dec. 27. Some may hold her last race against her, but she did not get a particularly good trip from a jockey who rarely rides on this circuit. She was ridden too conservatively early, had to pause in traffic on the turn, and then had to alter course when finding more traffic in the lane. Now she's getting a significant jockey upgrade to Carol Cedeno, who has ridden her in the past. She fits with these based on her form and will be a square price due to the connections.
