An accident occured in Saratoga’s 12th race on Monday (April 11) that involved four of the seven horses. The affected horses and drivers were Brio Beach (Brett Crawford), Quarrel (Jim Devaux), Never Not Dancing (Alek Chartrand) and Tremendous Cruiser (Brett Beckwith). Initial reports have Brett Beckwith perhaps taking the worst of the incident. According to his mother Melissa Silverman Beckwith, the 19-year-old driver had to have his wrist reset and will require surgery.  "I know to him this seems like the end of the world but it could have been so much worse and we are so thankful that that wasn't the case," said Silverman Beckwith via Facebook. Beckwith drove horses to over $1 million in earnings in 2021 (his first full year driving) and was on pace to nearly double those numbers this year. Saratoga track announcer Mike Sardella reported via social media that Brett Crawford came out of the accident sore but is ok. Alek Chartrand was having general pain and Dave Brower reported on Twitter that he has a fractured rib. Never Not Dancing did not survive the tragedy.  All other horses and drivers escaped without injury.
