ARCADIA, Calif.-The absence of any winning favorites in Wednesday's pick six races has led to a two-day carryover of $704,945 for Thursday's program. Santa Anita offers an eight-race program on Thursday, with the pick six covering the third through eighth races. The program begins at 1 p.m. Pacific. For many bettors, Thursday's pick six is more of a pick five. Midships, third in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby last November in his U.S. debut, will be heavily favored in the seventh race, an optional claimer over 1 1/8 miles on turf. There will be ample support for Cold Ruler in the fifth race, a maiden claimer over six furlongs. There were two early scratches in Thursday's pick six - Pemba at U.T.K in the third race, for maiden claimers, and Red Commander in the eighth race, for maiden claimers. Overall, four of the six races are for maidens, three in the claiming class.
