OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Search Results had a productive but busy 3-year-old season. By mid-summer the campaign had caught up with her, prompting trainer Chad Brown to give her an extended break. Saturday, Search Results makes her 4-year-old debut in the Grade 3, $150,000 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct, a race Brown hopes propels her to an equally successful season as she had in 2021. At 3, Search Results won the Grade 1 Acorn as well as the Grade 3 Gazelle and listed Busher Stakes. She also came within a neck of Malathaat in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks. Going into the Test last August, there were hints the campaign had taken a toll, a theory confirmed when she finished third behind Bella Sofia. “She was a little over the top,” Brown said. “I saw a couple of little signs of it before the race, but I really wanted to run in it.” Brown said the lengthy break for Search Results “did her a world of good.” Brown had considered running Search Results in Saturday’s Grade 1 Madison at Keeneland, but opted for the softer of the two spots. :: DRF's Wood Memorial Day headquarters – Previews, past performances, picks, and more “I wanted to get an easier race for her first start back and then think about the [Derby City Distaff] at Churchill or running back in the Ruffian, which makes more sense,” Brown said of the May 14 stakes at Belmont Park. The competition in the Distaff is topped by Glass Ceiling, a 5-year-old mare who is a head loss to Lady Rocket in the Pumpkin Pie Stakes last October away from having a five-race win streak. This past winter, Glass Ceiling knocked out the Garland of Roses and an allowance race here and the Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie at Laurel Park on Feb. 19. Glass Ceiling has a nice outside draw under Dylan Davis. Zaajel won the Grade 2 Mother Goose at Belmont last June before finishing sixth in the Test. She ended her campaign with a fifth-place finish in the Beldame last October. The New York-bred Kept Waiting has won her last three starts, but has not faced the likes of a Search Results. Easy to Bless and Dealing Justice complete the field. The Distaff goes as race 5. Bay Shore The speed of Dean’s List and the closing kick of Wit give trainer Todd Pletcher a complementary uncoupled entry in the Grade 3, $200,000 Bay Shore Stakes for 3-year-olds at seven furlongs. Dean’s List, a son of Speightstown, won a pair of six-furlong races at Gulfstream Park before setting the pace and finishing second to Morello in the Grade 3 Gotham going a mile. “He sprinted really well the first two times,” Pletcher said. “I thought his Gotham was a solid effort, so it makes sense to back up to seven and see how that goes.” Dean’s List will have to face other speed in here, which could set things up for Wit, if he’s ready to go in his first start in five months. Wit was a debut winner at Belmont before winning the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes by eight lengths at Saratoga. He has had gate issues, which explains why Pletcher worked him out of the gate last weekend. “He’s done well physically,” Pletcher said. “He’s always been a good-looking, strong colt, but he’s had a good winter.” Life Is Great finished second to Morello in the Jimmy Winkfield and fourth to him in the Gotham. He, like Wit, would benefit from a hot pace. Outkissed and Scaramouche both ship in from the Mid-Atlantic region after winning two straight races. Doctor Jeff, Fromanothamutha, Highly Respected, Juggler, and Runninsonofagun complete the field. Danger’s Hour Trainer Chad Brown felt Value Proposition was the best horse in the field when he finished second to Clear Vision in the Grade 3 Tropical Turf Stakes at Gulfstream on Jan. 8. :: Get DRF Betting Strategies for exclusive analysis and wager recommendations from our expert handicappers. Brown hopes for a better trip when Value Proposition runs in Saturday’s $100,000 Danger’s Hour Stakes going a mile over the turf. Brown felt Paco Lopez had Value Proposition too far off the pace in the Tropical Turf. “He was out of position,” Brown said. “He has speed and it just didn’t work out. We drew a line through it. He was the best horse in there.” Value Proposition will likely have to run down the speedy Rinaldi, a New York-bred stakes winner who last year in this race was run down by the Brown-trained Delaware. Therapist, an eight-time stakes winner, and City Man, last year’s West Point winner, give trainer Christophe Clement a strong one-two punch. Therapist won the Artie Schiller in 2020, the last time he ran a mile over this course. City Man won the Gio Ponti going a mile over this course in 2020. Oceans Map, Sanctuary City, It’s a Gamble, and Price Talk complete the Danger’s Hour field on turf. Southern District, trained by Brown, is entered main-track only.
