Winter doesn't officially arrive until Tuesday but there was little doubt the winter racing season is in full swing in south Florida after taking a look at the work tabs from Palm Meadows and Gulfstream Park on Friday. A total of 131 horses received timed workouts over both the main and turf tracks at Palm Meadows with another 84 working at Gulfstream. The most notable name on the Palm Meadow tab was Redding Colliery, who turned in one of the morning's slowest works, breezing an easy three furlongs in 39.50 in his first official drill since shipping to south Florida earlier this month. Redding Colliery finished third and was subsequently placed second following the disqualification of Successful Dan in the Grade 1 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs on Nov. 26 and is among the leading candidates for the Grade 1 Donn Handicap at Gulfstream on Feb. 5.
