ETOBICOKE, Ontario — The Maryland-based Ravalo outgamed Signature Red in the final strides to take Grade 3, $153,500 Kennedy Road Stakes on Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack. Ravalo ($16.20) was the surprising early leader in the six-furlong sprint. He got the opening quarter in 22.26 seconds while being pressed by favored Fatal Bullet. Ravalo dropped back to fourth on the turn while saving ground, before jockey Jeffrey Sanchez angled him three-wide for the drive. He linked up with Signature Red early in the stretch, and they went by Fatal Bullet before Ravalo dug in to score by a head, in a time of 1:09. Fatal Bullet checked in another 1 ¾ lengths back in third, and second choice Field Commission was a wide-closing fifth in the seven-horse field. Ravalo banked $90,000 for owner Lindy Redding and trainer Donald Barr. “He’s raced at 11 tracks,” said Redding. “He likes to travel. He almost goes on the trailer by himself. This looked like a good spot, with good money.”
