Multiple Grade 1 winner Ransom the Moon is the lone newcomer for the upcoming season at Calumet Farm, which has pared down its Kentucky roster, the farm revealed on Wednesday as it announced its stud fees for 2019. A dozen stallions make up the advertised roster at Calumet's historic Kentucky property for 2019, with the top fee belonging to turf champion and established sire English Channel, at $30,000. Calumet, which has also stood stallions regionally and internationally since coming under Brad Kelley’s ownership, stood 22 stallions on its official Kentucky roster last year; 11 of those will move to regional markets or transition to private stud duties. The relocating stallions include popular dual classic winner and champion Smarty Jones, who has returned to his home state of Pennsylvania to stand at Equistar Farm in 2019. Among other stallions whose new locations have been announced at this point are Grade 1 winner Real Solution, who has moved to Blue Star Racing in Louisiana, Canadian champion Eye of the Leopard, standing at Osborne Farm in Minnesota, and Ready's Image, who moved to Midwest Equine and Veterinary Hospital in Indiana. Calumet remains involved with all three stallions.  According to Calumet's website, Behesht, Grey Swallow, Musketier, Producer, and Snapy Halo will all be private stallions for 2019. :: Get breeding & sales news, Beyer info, and more delivered right to your email! Ransom the Moon will debut for a stud fee of $7,500. The son of Malibu Moon won consecutive editions of the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar, defeating champion sprinter Roy H both times. “He is beautiful, and if he replicates himself we are set," Calumet's Jak Knelman said in a release. "He is about 16.2 and has a beautiful neck and topline with a strong hip and hind leg. Looking at his profile, he looks like a classic-distance horse but he has the speed to win at six furlongs.” Keen Ice, whose first foals will arrive in 2019, will stand for an unchanged fee of $20,000 this season. Calumet's roster is rounded out by Oxbow and Bal a Bali at $15,000, Big Blue Kitten at $10,000, and Aikenite, Mr. Z, Optimizer, Raison D'Etat, Slumber, and War Correspondent all at $5,000.
