HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The final mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 pool for the 2023-24 Gulfstream Park Championship meet will take place on the final day of the session, Easter Sunday, with a challenging sequence that includes four races on the turf and a pair over the main track. A carryover somewhere in the vicinity of $800,000 is expected if the popular gimmick is not hit on Friday or Saturday with a pool of approximately $5 million likely up for grabs after the last 20-cent wagers are in the machines. Race 6 Leg 1 will be decided under allowance conditions on the turf and features the return of Grade 1 winner Far Bridge, who began his career with a pair of victories over the local course for trainer Christophe Clement and is now back in that barn after making his previous five starts for colleague Todd Pletcher, among them a victory in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby last summer. While many might be tempted to single Far Bridge to kick things off due to his class advantage, there are some red flags here, including a six-month layoff, the fact he’s never competed against older horses, and a very noticeable lack of pace in the lineup to set up the stretch-running colt. With that in mind, it might be wise to include a couple of others on the ticket. The most logical alternatives are Dream of Tomorrow, who exits a very key race on the Tapeta from which the second and third finishers returned to run one-two and earn Beyer Speed figures of 98 each under similar conditions on the dirt in their next starts, and Lucky Score, who is likely to scratch from the Appleton Stakes on Saturday for this softer spot. The adventurous might also want to toss in Safe Conduct, who just might prove the controlling speed at a square price if aggressively handled from the outset by jockey Tyler Gaffalione. :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports Race 7 Rainbow 6 players will at least be able to check out potentially live first-time starters in leg 2 of the sequence from the probable daily double payoffs posted before the previous race with four members of this 11 horse maiden special weight field making their career debuts and doing so around two turns, always a daunting task. One should also consider the disadvantage those drawn on the extreme outside will have with the short run to the first turn in races decided at 1 1/16 miles locally. That being said, Big City looks like the logical choice breaking from the rail and will likely be the controlling speed on the stretch-out. This guy has been keeping and holding his own in pretty good company, the questions being can he handle two turns and does he have another big effort in him following three hard, albeit well-graded, tries. My G is one of two in the lineup from Pletcher’s potent barn and arguably the more fancied of the pair along with Invigorated, who drew a poor post position. My G will get the full makeover, blinkers and first-time Lasix, while going turf to dirt for his second start. Another must-use at a price is Tommy Two Socks, who has changed hands since a troubled career bow which just happened to come in the hottest key race of the meet, one which has already produced five next-out winners. He turned in his best work to date with blinkers on last weekend. Derby Street might be the best of the new faces. He was a $700,000 yearling purchase in 2022 and has been well prepared for his debut over local soil by trainer Bill Mott. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! The pace figures to be honest, which might help the improving and rail drawn Ashima along with Wow Lucky and class-dropping Sadie The Goat, who ran respectably against much tougher, including the red-hot (three wins in a row) Roscoe Village in her turf bow. Boomin Belle is also a must-use while returning to what just might be her preferred surface off a very impressive Tapeta work a week earlier. Race 9 Back to the main for a manageable Florida-bred allowance test. Holiday Fantasy is coming off a career-best effort first time out for his present connections off the claim when trying Florida-breds for the first time and could be a single for many in here. Classify, freshened following a brutal trip last time out, had a solid work last Saturday at Palm Meadows and also is hard to ignore. Especially noteworthy is his huge second-place effort two back behind Bring Theband Home, who came out of the race to defeat open company on the grass with a career best 89 Beyer Speed Figure in his next start. Mauna Kea Bound exits a bit of a head-scratcher last time after a series of big efforts. Those looking for a price might toss in Free Soul, who is getting some class relief while finally trying statebreds today. Race 10 Five-furlong turf races always lend themselves to odd results, although it’s safe to say St. Pat’s Day and Wide West figure to be popular items after running one-two under similar conditions in a well-graded dash last month. For a bomber, why not Oh Darlin, who was given no chance after getting shuffled back early in the same race but did work well subsequent to that outing. She reunites with Miguel Vasquez this time around. :: Subscribe to the DRF Post Time Email Newsletter: Get the news you need to play today's races!  Race 11 Those fortunate to be alive for the finale will have to sort out another intriguing group of maiden special weight runners.Pletcher’s first-time starter Braid is perhaps key to the outcome. The son of American Pharoah is a half to turf monster Hawkbill, although his work résumé has been strictly on the main track and a fairly modest one at that this winter at Palm Beach Downs. Those seeking other options, and perhaps rightly so, might even want to single Pendulum, who certainly appears to be ready for her diploma after knocking on the door behind seemingly tougher in all her recent starts. This includes the 3-2 Irish-bred Kalispara in her most recent try. Past Tense also demands respect as an improving sort who adds blinkers after finishing third in a race won by first-time starter Sweet Rebecca with a very respectable 75 Beyer Figure. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
