HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Profound Legacy will have a new look Friday, when she runs in the featured first race at Oaklawn Park. She’s part of a six-horse field for the nonwinners-of-three allowance for fillies and mares. Others set to start in the one-mile race include Razeena and Lady C, who have each won her last two starts, and Sara Sea, a winner last month at Oaklawn. Profound Legacy, who is a full sister to 2012 Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can, will be making an equipment change Friday. “We’re going to kind of change things up a little bit and take the blinkers off,” trainer Mike Puhich said. “We’ve been kind of putting her into the race early. We’re going to let her settle off the pace, change tactics, see how it works out. The unfortunate thing is there’s not a whole lot of pace in there, but she’s really a push-button filly.” Profound Legacy could settle just off Sara Sea, who stretches out to two turns following a pair of sprint starts. She won a first-level allowance over six furlongs Feb. 7 at Oaklawn and last out contested the pace in an optional $50,000 claiming sprint Feb. 16. Sara Sea will break from the rail, with Declan Cannon to ride for Briland Farm and trainer D. Wayne Lukas. She is looking for her first two-turn win and is bred to be effective at the configuration as a daughter of Tiznow and the mare Absinthe Minded, who won three route stakes at Oaklawn. :: To stay up to date, follow us on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Profound Legacy is a 4-year-old daughter of Proud Citizen who races for Mark DeDomenico, founder of the Pegasus Training and Rehabilitation Center in Redmond, Wash. She, too, is looking for her first win at two turns. The last time she went a route of ground, she was second in a conditioned allowance over 1 1/16 miles on Dec. 12 at Turfway Park. Puhich, who is the trainer and director of horse operations for Pegasus, is among the new faces this meet at Oaklawn. “We’ve had a small percentage back here with Jack Van Berg, and with Tom Van Berg last year,” he said, “then Dr. Mark DeDomenico and a bunch of our clients at Pegasus wanted to come back with a full string, with just as many as we could bring.” Puhich said the draw was the purse structure at Oaklawn, which is projected to average more than $600,000 per day at the meet, which continues through May 2. Profound Legacy is making her Oaklawn debut and shows some strong works for the occasion, among them five-eighths in 1:00.80 on Feb. 25 at Oaklawn. Tyler Baze has the mount from post 6 on Friday.
