With an asterisk, Practical Move is a winner around two turns this year. On Oct. 10 at Santa Anita, Practical Move finished second by 1 1/2 lengths in a maiden special weight race at a mile to Fort Bragg, who was disqualified from first for causing interference. The ruling put Practical Move in the winner’s circle. Practical Move can prove he fits in top-level two-turn races when he starts in Saturday’s Grade 2 Los Alamitos Futurity at 1 1/16 miles. Trained by Tim Yakteen for Pierre and Leslie Amestoy and Roger Beasley, Practical Move will start in the longest race of his career in the $200,000 Futurity. “I think he’s deserving of another shot around two turns,” Yakteen said Monday. “It’s a great opportunity to take another swing.” Practical Move followed his promoted win in the maiden race with a troubled third-place finish in the Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes at seven furlongs on Nov. 20 at Del Mar. :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. Baffert has won the Los Alamitos Futurity a record 13 times from 1997 to 2020, at both Hollywood Park and Los Alamitos. Yakteen has already had a stakes win at the brief two-week Los Alamitos December meeting that began Dec. 9 and concludes this weekend. :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures On Sunday, the Yakteen-trained Cast Member remained unbeaten after three starts with a win in the $100,000 Soviet Problem Stakes for 2-year-old statebred fillies at a mile.
