Jockeys Tiago Pereira and Ramon Vazquez will serve three-day suspensions later this month after losing appeals of rulings issued during the Del Mar summer meeting. Pereira and Vazquez appealed the summertime penalties to the California Horse Racing Board, but were rejected. Pereira’s suspension covers racing on Dec. 26 and 29-30, while Vazquez, currently riding at Oaklawn Park, has been suspended from Dec. 29-31. Pereira was cited for causing interference in a race on Aug. 13 that led to his mount being disqualified from first to sixth. Vazquez was suspended for causing interference in a race on Aug. 27. Jockeys Geovanni Franco and Diego Herrera have been suspended one day, on Dec. 26, for whip infractions at Los Alamitos on Friday. Both were cited for using their whips more than the allotted amount of six times in a race. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
