After two days of increased gross and average, the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s April 2-year-old sale was still seeing six-figure horses at its third session Wednesday.At 3 p.m., Eastern, the highest price was the $170,000 EQB agent Patrice Miller paid for a Rock Hard Ten-Cute Cakes colt. Eddie Woods, agent, consigned the colt as Hip No. 710. The dark bay or brown colt worked an eighth-mile in 10.2 seconds at the April 14 under-tack preview.At Tuesday’s second session, a $240,000 colt and $210,000 filly, both by Mizzen Mast, contributed to a second consecutive day of significant gains in gross and average.The session-topping colt went to EQB’s Miller, agent. Paul Sharp was the consignor. The bay colt is out of the Unbridled mare Copper Rose.Hip No. 516, the $210,000 filly out of Baby Lets Cruise, went to Narvick International for $210,000. Costanzo Sales consigned her. The session sold 214 juveniles for $7,161,600, an 11-percent increase from last year’s total for 209 horses, and the session average of $33,465 was up 9 percent. The median price, $20,000, was the same as it was at last year’s equivalent session. But, as at Monday’s opening session, the buyback rate also increased, rising from 2010’s figure of 17 percent to 23 percent.
