Lit’sgoodlookngray should have plenty of speed to run at in a $13,000 claiming race for 3-year-olds and up at Northlands Park Wednesday. The six-furlong sprint drew eight horses and will go as race 7 on the nine-race card.Trained by Robertino Diodoro, Lit’sgoodlookngray was last early before making a strong move to reach contention at the quarter pole when he won a $17,500 claiming race May 21. He may have bounced when he finished fourth as the favorite for the same price June 4, but it was a pretty tough field and the horse that won, Robo Willie, is a stakes winner. A winner of 10 races and just shy of $400,000 in earnings, Lit’sgoodlookngry will appreciate the class relief and the likely shape of the race.Jorge Carreno retains the mount. It’s Good to Be Me guarantees a quick pace. He has used his good speed to win seven races from 17 career starts, including four wins last year, and he could take a big step forward in his second start of the year for trainer Gordon Amthor. It’s Good to Be Me dueled through quick fractions before fading to finish last in a $22,000 claiming race June 10. He is clearly the speed of the speed and if he breaks alertly he could take them a long way with the drop to a career low.Yankee Colonel should appreciate the move back to a sprint. Trained by Amanda Gregory, Yankee Colonel just missed in a six-furlong race for $13,000 June 5 and then was up close before tiring when he stretched out to a mile June 19. Yankee Colonel has tactical speed and could get a nice trip from just off of what could be a contested pace. Oh to Be Lucky isn’t as fast as It’s Good to Be Me but he does have decent early zip and figures to be involved right from the start. He forced an honest pace and held on well to finish second in a $15,000 claiming race going six furlongs June 8 and once again he gets in with a feathery 107 pounds with 10-pound apprentice Kaylea Richardson riding for trainer Jerri Robertson.
