With only three weeks remaining in the regular season, it’s getting real — real fast  — in the NFL playoff chase. Following are my three weekly NFL underdog picks against the point spread, including a brief breakdown of each matchup. Week 15 was a rough one as I went 0-3 on my underdog picks (Dolphins, Jaguars, Steelers), dropping my ATS season record to 20-24-1. Ten of those 20 underdog winners won the game outright. But, now, on to Week 16 …     NFL underdog picks for Week 16: Pittsburgh Steelers (+6.5 BetMGM) at Baltimore Ravens Yep, we’re going right back to the underdog well with coach Mike Tomlin’s Steelers. Pittsburgh suffered its first ATS — and straight-up — loss as an underdog this season last Sunday, falling 27-13 to the host Philadelphia Eagles. The defeat was an exception — and not the rule — for the Steelers, who remain a league-best 62-36-5 (.626) ATS when catching points since Tomlin took charge in 2007. There is, of course, much at stake in Saturday’s game in Charm City as Pittsburgh (10-4) holds a one-game AFC North lead over the Ravens (9-5). The Steelers prevailed 18-16 at home in the first meeting in Week 11 and could wrap up the division crown with another victory. But Saturday’s return match in Baltimore seemingly sets up well up for some Ravens revenge. Lamar Jackson and Co. may indeed win, but the nearly-full-touchdown spread still leaves ample room for a Steelers cover. Consider that only two of the last nine games in the series have been decided by six or more points and that the underdog is an eye-opening 16-2-1 ATS in Steelers-Ravens matchups since the start of the 2015 season. NFL underdog picks for Week 16: Carolina Panthers (+5 Caesars) vs. Arizona Cardinals The Panthers’ 30-14 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys was one of the more surprising results of Week 15. Sure, it was Carolina’s fourth straight loss, but the Panthers had been playing their best ball of the season in covering in the previous three games in narrow losses to winning teams in the Chiefs, Buccaneers and Eagles. The Cards, meanwhile, beat the visiting New England Patriots last Sunday to climb back to .500 at 7-7. But that’s been the only victory in the last month for Kyler Murray and Co., who haven’t performed well as a favorite (11-18 ATS since 2020) in recent seasons. Add it all up, and we’ll take the five points in a bounce-back spot for the host Panthers. NFL underdog picks for Week 16: Seattle Seahawks (+3 DraftKings) vs. Minnesota Vikings The Seahawks have a prime Week 16 bounce-back opportunity as well. Seattle (8-6) had won four straight to surge into the NFC West lead prior to last Sunday night’s disappointing 30-13 loss to the visiting Green Bay Packers. That defeat has not only eliminated the Seabirds from the division lead but also from the NFC playoff picture entirely. Quarterback Geno Smith left Sunday’s loss with a knee injury in the third quarter and didn’t return, getting replaced by an ineffective Sam Howell. But Smith was a full practice participant Wednesday and Thursday and looks to be on track to play Sunday. The surprising Vikings (12-2), meanwhile, are on a serious roll with seven straight wins, but it’s the home finale for the Seahawks who need the game more.
