Men’s conference championship week is here, and for some teams it’s the final chance to impress the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. The 68-team bracket will be revealed this coming Sunday, meaning March Madness betting is gaining serious steam. And with 31 automatic bids going to the conference tournament winners, there are 37 at-large bids available.  As many as 30 to 32 of those at-large spots are essentially already be spoken for — the exact number, of course, depending on how the major conference tournaments play out — leaving only a handful of teams on the proverbial bubble. Below we take a closer look at eight of the current bubble teams (as of Tuesday) found at Bracket Matrix, a go-to NCAA tourney projection amalgamation site.  New customers utilizing the welcome promo offers at our top-rated sporrtsbooks to wager on college hoops can currently reap up to combined $6,400 in bonuses. And, now, your bubble teams to track this week … NCAA Tournament bubble teams: Oklahoma (19-12) Bracket Matrix standing: 12th seed (last four in) Next game: Wednesday vs. Georgia in SEC first round The Sooners’ case: It’s borderline crazy that OU is in this bubble conversation after a 14th-place regular season finish (6-12) in its own conference. But with the 2024-25 SEC in contention to go down as one of the best conferences of all-time and also with a good chance to break the Big East’s 2011 record of 11 Big Dance bids, that’s where we are. As of Tuesday, the Sooners stood 45th (14th among SEC teams) in the NCAA NET rankings and owned a respectable 10-11 combined record against Quadrant 1 and 2 opponents. Find the latest game, futures and trending odds here on the new DRF Odds page  NCAA Tournament bubble teams: Indiana (19-12) Bracket Matrix standing: 12th seed (last four in) Next game: Thursday vs. Oregon in Big Ten second round The Hoosiers’ case: Indiana rallied in its regular season finale to beat fellow Big Ten bubble squad Ohio State and finish ninth in the conference at 10-10. It was the fourth victory in the last five games for the Hoosiers, but they still ranked 52nd in the NET as of Tuesday (the second lowest of our eight bubble teams) and are 4-12 against Quad 1 foes this season. A Big Ten tourney loss to eighth-seeded Oregon might leave Indiana on the wrong side of the bubble.  NCAA Tournament bubble teams: Ohio State (17-14) Bracket Matrix standing: 12th seed (last four in) Next game: Wednesday vs. Iowa in Big Ten first round The Buckeyes’ case: Ohio State ranks the highest of our select bubble contingent, standing 36 in the NET as of Tuesday, thanks largely to its top-12 national strength of schedule. Still, the Buckeyes finished 10th (9-11) in the 18-team Big Ten and enter the conference tourney having won only two of its six most recent games. Making some noise in Minneapolis will be a must.  The Lines: Bracketology Odds To Make NCAA Tournament: North Carolina, Ohio State, Xavier Predictions NCAA Tournament bubble teams: Xavier (21-10)  Bracket Matrix standing: 12th seed (last four in) Next game: Thursday vs. Marquette in Big East quarterfinals The Musketeers’ case: Xavier enters the Big East tourney on a roll, having won seven straight, including an 83-61 home rout of conference second-place-finisher Creighton on March 1. The Musketeers are a solid 44th in the NET despite a 1-8 record against Quad 1 foes, but likely can’t afford a poor Big East tourney showing. NCAA Tournament bubble teams: North Carolina (20-12) Bracket Matrix standing: First four out Next game: Wednesday vs. Notre Dame-Pittsburgh winner in ACC second round The Tar Heels’ case: The Heels could’ve boosted their Big Dance chances significantly with a regular season-ending win over current NET and Associated Press poll No. 1 Duke on Saturday. But the 82-69 home loss snapped North Carolina’s six-game win streak and dropped it to 1-11 in Quad 1 games. Still, the Heels rank 40th in the NET and deserve some credit for a daunting schedule, with five of their 12 defeats coming against current top-five NET teams. Coach Hubert Davis’ crew really could use a win or two in Charlotte. At FanDuel Sportsbook, you could get +410 odds as of Tuesday on North Carolina making the NCAA tourney. NCAA Tournament bubble teams: Boise State (22-9) Bracket Matrix standing: First four out Next game: Thursday vs. San Diego State in Mountain West quarterfinals The Broncos’ case: The Mountain West has tailed off since sending a record six teams to the NCAA tourney a year ago, but Boise State ranks third in the conference with an overall NET ranking of 47th despite finishing fifth in the standings. Losing to fellow MW bubble team Colorado State at home in the regular season finale hurt, and the quarterfinal matchup against the fourth-seeded Aztecs (51 NET) looms large. NCAA Tournament bubble teams: Texas (17-14) Bracket Matrix standing: First four out Next game: Wednesday vs. Vanderbilt in SEC first round The Longhorns’ case: Texas checks in at 42nd in the NET but finished 13th in the 16-team SEC at 6-12 after dropping seven of its final nine regular season games, including Saturday’s home loss to Oklahoma. In other words, the Longhorns are going to need to advance past 12th-seeded Vandy — and likely beyond — in the SEC tourney to feel decent about their NCAA chances. NCAA Tournament bubble teams: UC Irvine (27-5) Bracket Matrix standing: First four out Next game: Friday vs. UC Riverside-UC Davis/Cal Poly in Big West semifinals The Anteaters’ case: Despite the gaudy record, Irvine’s resume isn’t all that impressive with only one game against a Quad 1 foe and seven total in Quad 1/2. Big West regular season champ UC San Diego has a much-higher NET ranking (35) than UC Irvine’s 62, and that’s who the Anteaters are likely going to have to go through to win the tourney with their at-large bid chances almost nil. As a final point of reference, the Big West hasn’t has multiple Big Dance bids since 2005.
