Nayborhood Affair rides a four-race win streak into the $10,000-added Columbus Maturity/Matron as she heads a field of nine Nebraska-bred mares set to go 6 1/2 furlongs Saturday at Columbus. Nayborhood Affair has won two stakes during her win streak and comes off a length win in the Falls Amiss Handicap at Horsemen's Park on July 23. A 5-year-old daughter of Miracle Heights, Nayborhood Affair has moved through the ranks from entry-level allowance winner in March to likely favorite in the final stakes events for her division this year in the state. She will once again have the services of apprentice Ashley Dill for trainer Steve Hall. Deputy's Whirl, a closing second to Nayborhood Affair in the Falls Amiss, also returns to action in this spot for trainer Bob Rising. Deputy's Whirl has yet to win this year but has always run well on this track and should be rolling in the stretch under Jesus Ponce. Plaer's Trump is also a horse for the course here, with her only loss in four starts at Columbus a runner-up finish in the 2008 edition of this race. Plaer's Trump has not been out since running third to Nayborhood Affair in an open allowance race at Lincoln on July 5. Trained by Herb Riecken, she is the only runner in the field to top $100,000 in earnings, with a lifetime mark of 7-6-2 from 22 starts for a bankroll of $112,962. Leading rider Jordan Olesiak will be aboard for the first time.
