Mr. Money, who won four consecutive graded stakes between May and August, is being pointed to the Grade 1, $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita, trainer Bret Calhoun said Wednesday. Mr. Money had been under consideration for other upcoming stakes, including the Breeders’ Cup Classic. He last raced Sept. 21, finishing second by a neck in the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing. “We wanted to work out of that race, see him train a couple of weeks,” Calhoun said. “We are definitely pointing toward the Dirt Mile.” :: BREEDERS’ CUP 2019: See DRF’s top contenders Mr. Money had his first work out of the Pennsylvania Derby on Oct. 4, going a half-mile in 48.40 seconds at Churchill Downs. “We’ll do all of our works at Churchill and he’ll fly out on Oct. 29,” Calhoun said. “He’ll just gallop into the race at Santa Anita.” Gabriel Saez has the mount, Calhoun said. Mr. Money is a son of Goldencents owned by Allied Racing Stable. This year he’s won the Pat Day Mile, Matt Winn, Indiana Derby, and West Virginia Derby. Calhoun has won two Breeders’ Cup races, the Filly and Mare Sprint in 2010 with Dubai Majesty and the Turf Sprint the same year with Chamberlain Bridge.
