Mine That Star became the latest stakes winner produced by the mare Mining My Own when the half-brother to Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird and multiple Grade 1 winner Dullahan captured the $65,000 Winsham Lad Handicap on Sunday at Sunland Park. The one-mile race was for 4-year-olds and up. Mine That Star ($10.40) tracked the pace through an opening quarter in 24.19 seconds, then went on to take the field through a half-mile in 47.24 and six furlongs in 1:10.85. He fought to maintain the advantage in the stretch and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:35.04.
